Apple just started selling the iPhone tonight, through their stores, and through their exclusive partner, AT&T / Cingular.
The real question on everyone’s mind is when the first un-locked iphone will appear. AT&T is using a GSM network but the iPhone doesn’t have a SIM card like most GSM phones and the iPhone has a SIM card like other GSM phones, but it’s still locked up. The real question how long will it be before someone hacks the iPhone to work on another GSM carrier, like T-mobile?
Obviously, the visual voicemail won’t work, but it would be sweet to be unshackled from AT&T.
Update 7/19: People now have a working toolchain for building apps for the iPhone. I can’t wait to see the cool hacks that follow.
Heh.
I was looking at iPhone prices on e-bay and was suprised to see people selling iPhone related @yahoo.com e-mail addresses and getting bids for hundreds of dollars (I figured some people thought they were bidding on an actual phone). So, I got curious and started looking for domain names and was totally suprised that this one was available.
talk about domain parking! lol
neways, I think the break will officially come after 2 years untill the AT & T contract expires
